Hey everyone, if you haven't noticed I'm being pretty strict about getting a weekly post up on The Peak Condition Project homepage, so if you're looking for homespun wisdom go check there for the meantime. Also I'm spending my writing capital finishing up a book that's been on the backburner for far too long.
So that's where I'll be until the new year. Here Lies Patrick will get back up to steam soon!

Yo. Update your blog, yo.
What's this book all about, bro?
Can't wait to see the draft!!
Dear Patrick,
My name is Dorian Rolston and I am currently studying Buddhism in
Kyoto. This is my senior year at Princeton University, but I am
spending the semester (until December) with the Antioch Buddhist
Studies Program here in Japan. I am writing you with regard to my
research project for this program.
I really enjoy Zen is Stupid. Your words defintely encouraged me to look at Zen in a new way - that is, with a lighter heart, and with more direct application to daily life. Now here in Japan, I am studying how and why foreigners become interested in Buddhism, and what they feel they get out of it. Specifically, I am interested
in what one finds disagreeable (if anything) about one's life before
discovering Buddhism, and what Buddhism offers for its initial appeal,
and finally how one's experience with Buddhism compares to initial
expectations.
I was hoping that you may either have some suggestions for me - contacts (in
Japan or elsewhere), websites, books, etc. - or even have a spare
moment to answer the questions that would ultimately constitute my
"field" (broadly construed) research. At this point I am most
interested in collecting personal stories.
Any help would be much appreciated.
All the best.
Sincerely,
Dorian
Cool, looking forward to the book.
